Business Development and Marketing Manager
Business Development and Marketing Manager
The Business Development and Marketing Manager (BDMM) creates and executes marketing and business development plans and programs on behalf of the Real Estate, Development and Environment firm wide practice group, other firm wide industry teams, and the Portland, OR and Sacramento, CA offices. The BDMM has significant interaction with lawyers, lawyer managers and firm administration. This position reports directly to the firm’s Director of Business Development and Marketing.
Candidates must possess superior written and oral communication and project management skills, and the ability to implement strategic directives and see projects through from concept to delivery, using initiative, judgment, and business savvy.
Some of the BDMM’s responsibilities are listed below:
- Develop, implement and track strategic business development and marketing plans
- Create and monitor business development and marketing budgets relative to all areas of responsibility, assessing ROI from one year to next
- Work with the Competitive and Business Intelligence Researcher on research and analysis of existing and prospective clients, industry and market trends and any other information necessary to provide insight and value in the strategic planning process
- Work in conjunction with the Senior Business Development Manager to provide business development training and to implement specific business development programs and plans
- Make recommendations regarding participation/membership in industry publications and organizations
- Provide overall direction and assist with internal and external practice group and office events, sponsorships, conferences, alerts, mail lists, web updates and other marketing and communications activities
- Provide overall direction and assist with drafting/maintaining/updating practice group, industry and office marketing collateral including brochures, practice group descriptions, deal and case lists and web pages
- Work with the Senior Business Writer to respond to formal requests for proposals and to coordinate production of other proposals and credential statements
- Lead media relations efforts in areas of responsibility by drafting press releases, identifying media opportunities, conducting media pitches, securing placements, and responding to media inquiries
- Develop paid media/advertisement plans and coordinate their fulfillment
- Work with in-house design team on the production of marketing materials for various events/campaigns
- Identify awards and recognition opportunities and manage/coordinate nominations
- Develop and oversee civic/charitable giving programs for Portland, OR and Sacramento, CA offices.
Candidates must have 2-4 years of related business development and marketing experience in a professional services firm or closely related work environment. A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university is required, and previous experience in a law firm will be favorably considered. Candidates must possess excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet research tools. Knowledge of InterAction CRM software is desirable. Salary commensurate with experience.
