Art Director

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

The Art Director will lead the team of graphic designers to produce design solutions that best translate the Fiskars marketing goals. Will be involved in the brand marketing strategies and execution through the retail environment.  This position will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

 

· Oversee the production of marketing projects.  Drives the production process -- constantly pushing the bar in an effort to “plus“ the work.

· Solves design and visual communication problems in a variety of formats while maintaining consistency throughout all communication channels.

· Assists in the establishment of marketing department standards and procedures

· Assists in the coordination of printing production and ensures that quality control standards are met.

· Communicates with project managers, product designer, engineers, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective production of projects.

· Reviews projects at each stage of production, from conception through printing.

· Leads critique teams with Creative Manager to evaluate all major projects before they move to final production to ensure the highest level of creative.

 

Ideal candidate will possess:

· Must have a minimum of a 4 year degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field. 

· Type of Experience:  Minimum of 5 years of graphic design/creative work and within a consumer goods product management or comparable industry.  Must have significant experience in packaging, marketing collateral, and web brand identity design; Prior agency or corporate experience a must; Proven ability to art direct production staff and external vendors. Supervisory experience at an Ad Agency or In-House Creative Department.

· Job Knowledge:  Thorough knowledge of creative design process from design concepts to printing and production techniques; Mastery of Mac-based design applications; Proficiency in Quark, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, PDF, and MS Office.

· Additional Requirements:  Individual must have a passion for design and the creative process, have strong conceptual skills and be highly creative; while having the ability to work with internal and external clients. Knowledge and understanding of the consumer products industry; brand identity, and international experience a plus.
