Phoenix House, a non-profit organization, is the nation’s foremost provider of comprehensive, alcohol and substance abuse treatment for adults and adolescents. Since 1967, more than 100,000 drug-troubled individuals have received treatment at our adult residential centers, our adolescent Phoenix Academies, outpatient and day programs and programs in prisons, drug courts and homeless shelters.

Admissions Coordinator (Adolescent)

 

 

 

Position Summary:

 

Under the general supervision of the Director of Adolescent Admissions, exercises independent judgment and discretion, in providing, coordinating and arranging outreach, admissions and assessment of prospective clients for Phoenix House programs. Responsible for upholding current regulations

 

Responsibilities:

 Directly responsible for interviewing applicants for admission to the residential program and performing assessments and evaluations in keeping with Phoenix House policies and procedures.  This includes, but is not limited to, interviewing prospective clients and relatives to obtain necessary and pertinent personal and financial data to determine eligibility and appropriateness of treatment and admission.Facilitates waiting list groups for families as a means of support for them while they are waiting for a treatment opening for their child.Performs crisis intervention sessions for families who are seeking treatment.Coordinates and completes the admissions process (which may include transportation) for all intakes with approval by their authorized representatives.Maintains a list of referrals for clients who do not meet the admissions criteria.Participates in meetings and conferences, as assigned, as a representative of Phoenix House.Participates in individual supervision meetings at least twice a month and at least one group supervision meeting every two months as scheduled with the Director of Admissions.Establishes and maintains contacts and communications with outside agencies.Responsible for marketing the program to schools and public and private placement.Agencies and increasing the referral base network.Ensures compliance with local, state and federal confidentiality laws and regulations.

 

Knowledge of:

 Substance Abuse Treatments and occurring mental disorders.Los Angeles County Department documentation requirements.Treatment of high-risk adolescents and families.Basic Phoenix Houses of California rules, regulations, practices and policies.Therapeutic communities, as well as broad knowledge of drug abuse and treatment programs.  Acute perception of people’s attitudes, characteristics and behavior patterns.





 Ability to: 

Work with a multi-disciplinary team.Manage crisis assessments and interventions; available on-call.Lead and develop staff; provide constructive feedback and work direction  Promote teamwork and cooperation of staff within the program and the other Agencies.  Speak in public. Execute excellent verbal and written communication.Foster and promote a positive image and professional appearance.  Demonstrate emotional maturity and stability

 



 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

 Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in Social Work or related fieldMUST BE BILINGUAL: fluent in English and Spanish

 

Experience:



· 2 years of experience with adolescents in a youth setting or drug or alcohol treatment setting

 

SPECIAL NOTES

 Must possess a valid California Drivers license.Must be willing to be available 24 hours a day (on-call).Applicant must be either a U.S. Citizen or have the legal right to work in the Untied States.Applicant must live in the State of California, preferably within 25 miles of organization.
