Account Sales Assistant

Summary Description:
Responsible for assisting the Account Services staff in servicing clients. Fills in for and assumes the client responsibilities of Account Services Representatives and Executives in their absence. Supports the sales team in an administrative capacity.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
· Performs client interactions for Account Services Representatives and Executives in their absence.
· Initiates timely notification of relevant news segments to clients, informing clients of when and where news coverage occurred. Tracks media coverage related to special events or ongoing topics, relevant to clients. Reviews (researches) previous news broadcasts, upon client request.
· Takes orders for tapes, transcripts, and other products from clients.
· Answers question that existing or potential clients may have with company products, services or policies. Explains the monitoring process and educates clients about the service. Must obtain a thorough knowledge of VMS’s practices, procedures, services, and products.
· Selects keywords that would best fit clients’ needs. Updates the computerized research keyword system with new accounts and keywords for both existing and new clients. Responsible for the regular, continual update of client database, the electronic client “rolodex” with client name, contacts, address, phone number, fax number, etc.
· Assists Account Services by performing a variety of support functions and administrative duties such as forwarding messages, faxing information, preparing correspondence, and mailings.
· Prepares documents and memos using company provided software programs. Assists with distribution of information.
· Assists in special projects undertaken in the department, i.e., filing, analysis of marketing reports, updating client rolodex, etc.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
· Four-year college degree preferred.
Skill/Knowledge:
· Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing. Ability to interact effectively with others: clients, peers, superiors, other employees in the company.
· Computer literacy, including experience with word processing. Ability to type.
· Ability to use standard office equipment such as fax machines, telephones, computers and printers, photo copy machines.
· General knowledge of TV news broadcasts.
· Awareness of current events as obtained by regularly watching TV news, listening to radio news, and/or reading newspapers. Knowledge of American popular culture.
· Ability to work under pressure meeting deadlines. Ability to organize and manage many tasks, budgeting time accordingly.
· Ability to analyze problems, and to develop and implement plans to resolve problems.
