Account Executive - Environment Practice / Waggener Edstrom Worldwide

In the tradition of working with companies that are focused on developing innovative technologies and services, the Environment practice at Waggener Edstrom is supporting the communications efforts of businesses that offer real reductions on our environmental footprint, whether through energy and emissions savings, better use of natural resources, or reduction in unhealthy chemicals or byproducts. The person best suited for this position will come with not only an interest in getting engaged in environmental topics that are currently top of mind for media, consumers and business but those that drive a larger societal shift towards a more sustainable future. This position will focus primarily on media engagement and requires a passion for creative storytelling/writing skills (print/online/digital), strategic thinking and understanding of and interest in issues management, as well as strong client engagement/management skills. This person should posses a strong background in project management, and be service oriented and self motivated. While this person will primarily have a billable role on existing key accounts, this person will also be expected to share ideas about potential new business prospects that fit our criteria, as well as help support efforts around new business pitches for our growing practice. • Drive some day-to-day management of specific accounts, including planning and execution, and project management

• Write background materials, organizing briefing bookings, developing presentations

• Implement account programs and maintaining regular contact with client

• Develop a thorough understanding and knowledge of clients’ business and their competitive environment

• Develop editorial/journalistic/media contacts and develop relationships with key media

• Implement media events, press conferences/briefings and media tours

• Prepare a full range of written materials including press releases, byline articles, client correspondence and reports

ʉۢ Contribute to the development of account plans

Education:

• A BA/BS degree in communications or marketing is preferred

Experience Preferred:

• At least 3 years experience in PR, preferably in an agency setting and/or within the high tech industry. 4-5 years experience preferred.

• Strong presentation and research skills.

• Ability to drive client relationships, providing strategic and tactical advice, drafting and implementing plans, providing thoughtful analysis, identifying proactive opportunities, crafting briefing materials, tracking coverage

• Demonstrated ability to establish strong client relationships

• Solid media relations experience

• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task and balance priorities

• Demonstrated client service orientation

• High level of initiative
