Position Summary

Development Information Systems provides IT solutions that support the Office of Development, the Alumni Association, and university partners. We enable our partners to meet their goals through the deployment of strategic web-based systems and integration that support business processes across vended and custom solutions.



The mid- to senior-level application developer will design, build, maintain, and support web-based applications and integration primarily on the .NET platform.



The successful candidate will work extensively with university partners to understand business needs and translate them into new systems and enhancements.



Primary Responsibilities:

- Requirements gathering and business analysis

- Document code, and create technical specifications

- Design, build, maintain and support custom web-based applications

- Working with and create APIs for custom and vendor application integration

- Quality assurance testing upgrades, patches and new releases

- Manage new initiatives, working closely with internal and external partners

- Research new technology, tools, and approaches

Essential Qualifications

The successful candidate must have experience developing custom web applications and a solid understanding of Object-oriented concepts, web technologies and full Software Development Lifecycle experience. Candidates should also have a good understanding of analysis and design practices using object modeling, use cases, and UML.



Additional requirements include:

- Bachelor's degree required or commensurate experience

- Minimum of 3 years of custom web development experience

- Excellent communication skills and a strong mix of project management, programming and business analysis skills

- Demonstrated strength in identifying system solutions for evolving business requirements

- Ability to thinking strategically about integrating solutions into the enterprise

- Web development skills, including some of the following:

ASP.Net, C#, XML/XSLT, Java, Web Services (REST/SOAP), HTML, CSS, Javascript, PL/SQL, JQuery

- Excellent customer service skills

- Effective presentation and facilitation skills

- Must be a team player and also able to work independently



The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with ASP.NET MVC and Web Forms

- Experience with open source tools and projects such as JASIG CAS, NHibernate, log4net, SVN, NUnit

- Experience using Oracle tools; SQL, PL/SQL

- Business domain knowledge of Alumni and Development Office functions

- Higher education experience

- Familiar with SunGard Advance

- Familiar with Cognos or comparable enterprise reporting tools
