VP of TAX

We are recruiters that specialize in the placement of Accounting and Finance professional within Insurance and Reinsurance. Our client is a well known reinsurer with a solid track record, they are located in New York City. We are working with them to conduct a search for a VP of Tax. 

This position reports to the local CFO but is responsible to the Parent Company's tax director and staff in terms of providing overall tax support at the local level.

Direct supervision of domestic tax staff (1 staff person) and close working relationship with the international tax staff.

Tax planning and compliance, including detailed preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement accruals and provisions on multiple bases of accounting for several jurisdictions.

Preparation of footnote disclosure for US GAAP and US Statutory financial statements.

Management of State and local tax audits. Participation in federal tax audits where applicable.

Tax return preparation / review, including Federal, State, City, Sales / Use and Federal Excise tax.

Maintenance of appropriate general ledger accounts related to income taxes.

Participate in tax planning and special projections, generally under the direction of the Parent Group's tax staff.

Qualified candidates for this position will have:

At least 5 years of relevant insurance tax experience and strong technical skills. Must be a self 'starter and have a roll up your sleeves work ethic. Merger and acquisition experience is a plus but not required. There will be some travel and a CPA is preferred.
