Utilities Supervisor

General SummaryServe as principal technical advisor regarding current and emerging power supply/delivery issues as well as on matters related to supply and acquisition strategies, building energy management technologies, and development of internal energy usage and conservation polices, and regulatory compliance. This position reports to the Area Manager of Maintenance for the PowerHouse and Plant Services.Principal Accountabilities1. Responsible for the production of steam and maintaining boiler house operations. Requires a Class 1 Boiler License.2. Responsible for Refrigeration operations, including knowledge of ammonia systems.3. Plant CFC coordinator - this includes keeping records on usage, repairs, location of units and certifications for plant refrigerants.4. Responsible for Ammonia Process Safety Management. This program studies system vulnerabilities and addresses corrective action items required.5. Responsible for Main Plant air compressors including preventative and routine maintenance.6. Responsible for Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning plant wide including preventative and routine maintenance.7. Keeps records for reporting to the EPA - Air Emissions. Fills out quarterly reports and annual reports. Responsible for Starship Program, reporting fee emissions to the Federal EPA.8. Member of the Energy Conservation Team - this is mandatory due to the high involvement with fuel and energy for the plant.9. Keeps weekly, monthly and annual energy date for the plant.10. Responsible for Utility Maintenance: Boiler House, Refrigeration, N-11 By-Products, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Spray Irrigation.Job Complexity* Ability to develop complex energy conservation saving projects.* Detailed knowledge of heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical systems, and process related systems in industrial buildings.* Condensate in compressed air lines. Have to identify source and eliminate.* Test a new combustion management program on boiler and properly tune associated instruments.* Condenstate return is below industry standards. Develop improvement plan. Job Specifications* Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical, combustion engineering or related field from an accredited college.* 5+ years of relevant work experience in utility and boiler management.* Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.* Knowledge of High Performance Work System.* Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.* Capability and desire to work as an organizational change agent.* Knowledge and experience in the development of proposals, vendor agreements, and subcontractor contracts.* Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.* Proficiency on the use of computer-based applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and project database applications.* Effective leadership skills.* Must hold a Class 1 Boiler License.* Must hold a Refrigeration Certificate.* Have some knowledge of Title V air permitting.* Have knowledge or obtain CFC, Technician Certification. Working Conditions Move autonomously, walking and standing for long periods, hearing, seeing, reading, and writing.* Work independently and with people, speaking in front of groups and with individuals, management, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers, etc.* Grasp, reach, feel, and finger dexterity.* Operate a motor vehicle.* Less than 5% travel. * Work both indoors and outdoors, in hot or cold conditions.
