Technical Accounting and Reporting Engagement Manager - Salaried

Engagement Managers at Jefferson Wells are the driving force for our success.  They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our various service offerings and are responsible for ensuring the quality of services and products provided to Jefferson Wells clients.  They oversee the professional staff assigned to their engagements and manage the day-to-day execution of tasks in fulfillment of established work plans. Engagement Managers follow the Jefferson Wells’ methodology and service excellence standards while working with clients.  Engagement Managers are known for their diverse industry and management experience.  Other key success factors include:
- Functional experience and knowledge in their service offering 
- Deep understanding of our client’s business, financial, and technological processes
- Expertise in Thought Leadership, Project Solution and Professional Resources Support services 
- Ability to identify and communicate solutions to complex, time-critical or recurring business issues
- Experience in cost savings and business performance improvement
 
Engagement Managers understand the Jefferson Wells’ engagement methodology and service quality practices and apply them to all client
engagements including, but not limited to: 
- Identifying, tracking and reporting engagement risks, issues, opportunities and change in scope; 
- Translate engagement scope into work plans describing engagement tasks, timing and responsibilities;
- Providing clear, concise and appropriate documentation of work performed;
- Preparing internal and external status reports that communicate deliverables, progress and results;
- Working closely with Directors to promptly resolve client issues
 
The Technical Accounting and Reporting Engagement Manager typically performs the following job duties:
* Provide innovative finance and accounting consulting and compliance expertise to clients in a range of industries.
* Support field office efforts in providing Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting services to clients in accordance with service offering guidelines.
* Research and evaluate new and existing accounting guidance relevant to each engagement including:
 o Identification of technical accounting and financial reporting issues.
 o Researching and evaluating transactions, practices and policies for compliance with accounting and reporting guidance.
 o Determination of the appropriate accounting for actual and proposed transactions.
 o Preparation of technical memorandums to support accounting conclusions (writing samples preferred).
 o Implementation of new and proposed accounting and reporting standards issued by the SEC and FASB or other governing authorities.
* Contribution to firm-wide thought leadership materials.-

*Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or Finance
*CPA required.
* MBA preferred.
* Minimum 7 years experience in the general area of accounting services including a mix of public accounting, consulting and/or industry experience.
* Broad understanding of processes and activities that occur within Accounting and Finance function of a public and private company.
* Demonstrated experience in leading technical accounting and financial reporting engagements and/or held prior position at a national office or regulatory body.
* Aptitude for technical accounting research.
* Demonstration of recent in-depth SEC reporting knowledge.
* Experience in preparation and analysis of financial statements and consolidation of financial results.
* Expertise in SEC regulations and FASB pronouncements.
* Experience in research and evaluation of accounting literature regarding compliance with governing accounting standards (GAAP, FASB, IASB, IFRS).
* Working knowledge of tax codes/regulations where impacted preferred.Minimum 5 years project management experience.

* Minimum five years experience managing, coaching or developing professionals and teams of professionals.

* Proven ability to effectively lead and manage multiple work streams simultaneously, where assigned.

* Demonstrates effective service industry consulting skills

* Strong project management skills

* Functional experience in the declared Solution Area.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills and comprehension including facilitation and presentation skills.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Access preferred)

* Strong background in the use of appropriate software tools used in the Solution Area

* Client service delivery experience.  Additional Information:Travel Percentage: 10%
