US Provisions (Tax) Manager: SALARY: $110k-$130k + Bonus (for the candidate as described, less for a candidate with only some of the ideal experience). It's ALL about the FAS 109 experience with a multinational publically traded (SEC filing) corporation. TOP 3 KEYS: (1) FAS 109 / Tax provision / Tax Accounting (2) Multinational tax reporting (SEC filings) for a publically traded corporation (3) FIN 48 (audit reserve) or 123R (stock option) implementation experience are both good signs Key Job Responsibilities: Our Client is seeking a strong Manager or Senior Manager, Tax Accounting. Primary duty is consolidating worldwide Tax Provision calculations meeting FAS 109 guidelines. This includes training and supporting a team which provides provision training and review worldwide, maintenance of provision systems and applications, and preparing journal entries, effective tax rate calculations, balance sheet analytics, and executive summaries. Position reports to the Director of Tax Accounting, and is partnered with many members of the tax department, together sharing responsibility over the worldwide tax provision. Our client is a publicly traded, international corporation with headquarter offices in Pasadena, California. Additional duties include supporting other department functions: Tax Compliance, Tax Audit, and Tax Planning. This positions will be reporting to Director, Income Tax Accounting. There are 14 people in the Tax Department. • FAS 109 Foreign Tax Provision o Training, supporting & monitoring team of foreign provision liaisons (indirect supervision). o Monitoring all aspects of foreign provision results and providing executive summary of current events. Ensure provision accurately captures correct accounting of tax initiatives. o Supervising tax applications within HFM Hyperion environment (includes system testing and hierarchy maintenance). o Supervising GL reconciliations between tax and other financial systems. o Participate in Valuation Allowance and FIN 48 Audit Reserve calculations. o Quarterly Rate reconciliations & Financial Statement roll-forward analysis. o Prepare and/or Review calculations supporting SEC reporting requirements. o Excel modeling / analytical analysis. o Interact with external auditing firm. o Support M&A and Purchase Accounting activities. • Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 Compliance o Design, perform, and monitor SOX controls during provision processes. o Interact with external auditing firm. • Other Department Functions o Liaise with other finance departments on tax matters. o Maintain legal entity list for quarterly reporting. o Support tax planning, acquisition, and divestiture projects. o As needed, assist with tax return calculations and disclosures. o Special projects and tax analysis Position Requirements: · Strong Accounting / Analytical Skills. · Heavy FAS 109 provision experience with publicly traded entity. · Natural teaching skills. · Strong written and oral communication skills. · Experience with these or similar software: Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Access; CorpTax; Hyperion HFM; PeopleSoft. · Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting (MS Tax preferred). · 7 -10 years of tax experience. · CPA and/or Masters in Taxation high preferred (practically required) · Position requires foreign travel, and seasonal overtime. · Other key qualities: Responsible, problem solver, intelligent, organized, flexible, professional, creative, conscientious, ethical, positive.
