As a Tax Manager, you will have the opportunity to make an impact by:
· Providing tax research and consulting services in response to tax return issues, client requests and identifying opportunities
· Developing the technical skills to perform an effective review of all types of tax returns (1120s, 1065s, etc.). This means performing the necessary level of review to ensure that relevant issues have been identified and resolved and that returns are complete and ready for Tax Partner review
· Managing engagements including the planning and supervision of the tax return preparation process, coordinating tax consulting projects and ensuring the completion of billing and engagement letters in a timely manner
· Identifying tax planning & consulting opportunities, including coordination with client's other advisors
· Assuming certain tax and non-tax administrative responsibilities to assist the Partners with the overall management of the Firm
· Communicating directly with clients and their advisors by phone email or in person, and serving as the primary point of contact
· Proactively communicating with supervisors on status of projects and assistance needed
· Handling administrative responsibilities including billing, interviewing candidates, participating in training as an attendee and as a leader
· Working closely with the Administrative staff to plan timely delivery of returns
· Thinking proactively about practice development to include opportunities to cross sell to existing clients as well as identifying new clients
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing standards
· Understanding of a broad range of accounting issues including those involving higher levels of judgment such as: priority for income taxes, revenue recognition, subsequent events, contingencies and industry specific procedures
· Knowledge of accounting, tax, audit and related business trends
· Ability to review and provide feedback on work prepared by Tax Staff and Seniors in a professional manner
· The ability to establish a rapport and good communication with clientele
· Ability to gather, organize and summarize information efficiently and effectively
· Ability to adhere to given budgets and time deadlines
· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet
· Manages own time and the time of others
· Motivates, develops and directs people as they work
· Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
· Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Interviews, trains and orients staff
Education & Experience Requirements:
· Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
· Active Certificate in Public Accounting (CPA) required
· Minimum four years U.S. public accounting experience
· Minimum two years of management experience
