Tax Manager
Keisling Associates LLP, a regional public accounting firm, is seeking to fill the position of Tax Manager for it's Madison, Wisconsin office. The Tax Manager oversees tax compliance and tax planning of clients by interpreting tax code, tax regulations, and other tax authority; completing/reviewing tax returns; and researching tax authority when needed.
§ Comply with federal, state, local, and other tax requirements for individuals, partnerships and corporations by studying regulations, enforcing adherence to requirements, advising partners on needed actions, communicating with appropriate people to ensure timely tax reporting requirements, and preparing tax returns and related correspondence to the taxing authorities.
§ Prepare federal, state, local, and specialized tax returns by collecting and analyzing financial information.
§ Ensure proper completion of tax returns and report progress to engagement Partner.
§ Ensure tax return process is properly planned, performed, supervised, reviewed, documented, and results communicated.
§ Provide ongoing training and development of new and existing staff, when necessary.
§ Comply with relevant Continuing Professional Education requirements of the AICPA, State Board of Accountancy, Governmental Accounting Standards, and the Firm.
§ Actively market tax services to new and existing clients.
§ Maintain awareness and understanding of developments in accounting field and in client industries.
§ Maintain accurate records of time and expenses to ensure proper client billing.
§ Draft invoices to bill clients for services rendered.
§ Actively contribute to company newsletter and alert Firm on pertinent tax issues as they arise.
§ Prepare and present materials for in-house training and client seminars, when necessary.
§ Attend seminars, trade shows, or client relations functions, when necessary.
Knowledge and skills usually acquired through bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
Experience in identifying client needs and in developing and maintaining client relationships.
Mastery of principles of tax, including compliance, consulting and research.
Computer literacy including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat products.
Tax software knowledge, including compliance software (GoTax) and research software (RIA).
