Tax Controversy Manager
There is a tax implication for almost every transaction a company undertakes, from trading to acquisition to offshoring. Even the most sophisticated global companies often struggle with balancing compliance details and long-term tax strategy. The tax specialists of Deloitte Tax LLP ("Deloitte Tax") have the perspective to help companies understand national, state and local and international tax structures and align the tax function with business objectives. Tax Controversy specialists can help address the risks and costs of dealing with the IRS and explore more favorable and efficient issue resolution. Deloitte Tax controversy specialists understand the complexity of IRS practice and procedure - many of our professionals formerly worked for the IRS and Treasury as executives, counsel, appeals officers, revenue agents, and service center managers. We are currently seeking Managers to join our Tax Controversy practice. Tax Managers use their expertise in accounting and taxation to provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and individual clients. They must be familiar with the tax consulting process and the professionalism necessary for the effective diagnosis, solution, development and implementation of clients' tax needs. You'll have the opportunity to develop and pursue creative strategies while using the latest technologies. As a Tax manager in our Corporate Tax practice, you will be offering day-to-day management of accounts through delivering all tax consulting services to the client and bringing in specialists when necessary. Your primary responsibilities include oversee complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries; participate in engagements requiring tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates; research and analyze a wide range of tax issues such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques; you may assume tax-planning responsibilities for our corporate and individual clients. Tax Manager supervises assignments by the professional accountants serving as Tax Consultants and Seniors. They have responsibility for the development and motivation of engagement staff and provide them with leadership, counseling and career guidance. They have proven, extensive technical expertise and have developed their reputation in a given industry/service line. As a Tax Controversy Manager, qualified applicants should possess: • 4 or more years of public accounting experience or equivalent in law firms or industry • Excellent Research and Writing skills a must. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field; prior Big 4 experience a plus. • CPA, Enrolled Agent or other appropriate certification required. • Advanced Degree preferred. • Minimal travel required.About DeloitteDeloitte refers to one or more of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a Swiss Verein, and its network of member firms, each of which is a legally separate and independent entity.
