Statutory Reporting Consultant - #35145 SV

WellPoint is the nation's leading health benefits company serving the needs of approximately 28 million medical members nationwide.Responsible for statutory accounting consistencies and interpretation of new accounting pronouncements. Issues papers, prepares and compiles the Statutory Annual and Quarterly Financial Reports and the Annual Statutory Audited Statement for business unit to the NAIC and all licensed regulated states. Essential duties to include, but are not limited to: Coordinates and compiles the annual, combined and quarterly financial statements. Prepares statutory filings regarding the annual and quarterly statutory financial statements, resolves outstanding issues and files with appropriate regulatory agencies. Interfaces with departments and management to communicate concerns and resolve issues. Develops standard and ad-hoc performance analysis reports. Coordinates and compiles annual and semi-annual Risk-Based Capital (property & casualty and health) calculations for company. Maintains and updates financial analysis package given to senior management for comparison between GAAP, BCBSA, and statutory accounting analysis. Performs other duties as assigned.

BS/BA in finance or accounting required or equivalent combination of work experience and education. 5 to 7 years of directly related experience required. Previous experience involving the application of statutory accounting principles or equivalent industry experience is preferred. Prior experience in developing, testing, implementing and reconciling automated systems. Critical thinking skills required. The ability to work independently required. The ability to work under tight reporting deadlines required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

 

 MBA, CMA and/or CPA preferred.
