Staff Accountant II
JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the accounting functions relating to month-end close and management reporting for the Company’s insurance agencies, carriers and related subsidiaries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform complex general ledger accounting for insurance agencies, carriers and related subsidiaries.
• Perform monthly/quarterly/year end closing process.
• Handle all inquires in a timely manner and research problems as required.
• Identify and prepare financial statements and/or reports associated with monthly/quarterly/year end close process.
• Reconcile and balance subsidiary ledgers to general ledger for assigned complex accounts.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Perform special projects as assigned.
• Develop working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Must develop working knowledge of insurance accounting and financial reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including but not limited to Excel
• Knowledge of accounting software applications
• Strong working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles
Skills/Abilities:
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong decision making and judgement skills
• Good organization and time management skills
• Strong commitment to task assigned
Experience/Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience required
• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience
WORK CONDITIONS:
• May be required to sit for extended periods of time
