Staff Accountant - High-Growth Equity Firm (JL)
Our client, a prestigious international Private Equity firm with headquarters in Washington DC is in need of a Staff Accountant. This position is high profile with great visibility. This is an excellent opportunity to transition into financial services and take ownership of your work. Outstanding compensation, benefits, and ideal location in downtown Washington. RESPONSIBILITIES:· Book journal entries in the general ledgers for several Perseus entities; update cash and related journal entries weekly;· Assist with quarterly general ledger closing including reconciliation for investment, capital and cash accounts;· Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supplemental financial schedules for entities;· Analyze financial activity for Perseus entities;· Generate and review investor capital account statements for quarterly reporting;· Perform allocations for capital calls and distributions to investors;· Assist in preparing capital call and distribution notices and updating call and distribution-related files;· Follow up on all outstanding accounts receivable items;· Responsible for handling correspondence and activities such as borrowing base certificates and covenant compliance with banks;· Assist with the timely response to audit deliverables and confirmations and aid in the completion of all audit-related requests for interim and year end audits;· Assist with the preparation of the entity tax returns and tax planning projects;· Work with tax team to ensure entity tax returns and extensions, prepared by tax consultants, are filed on a timely basis; · Assist in the timely response to tax notices and aid in the completion of all tax related requests;· Participate in the review of the tiered partnership tax returns;· Assist with the conversion of fund financial and investor-related data from current accounting system to new reporting database;· Respond to and generate investor correspondence;· Assist with document uploads onto IntraLinks;· Assist in a wide variety of projects as assigned;· Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive and confidential issues. QUALIFICATIONS:· Accounting degree and a minimum GPA of 3.0.· 1-3 years public accounting experience· Proficient Microsoft Office skills - MSWord and Excel experience required. · CPA candidate and QuickBooks accounting software experience preferred.· Strong organizational skills. Detail oriented - attention to detail a must.· Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.· Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.· Willingness to learn.
