Some of the responsibilities the successful incumbent will undertake are as follows:Ensures proper accounting for general ledger transactionsPlays an important role in month end closing, quarterly reporting schedules and disclosures, and the year-end audit processReconciles general ledger accountsAssists with monthly budgetAssists department personnel in the discussion and resolution of accounting issuesIdentifies areas of internal control weakness and instigate solutions Assists other departments with various accounting needs and questions
QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting highly preferred; will consider applicants without a degree who have exhibited at least several years of excellence in the Accounting fieldDeltek experience highly preferredWork in a government cost accounting setting highly preferredMust be able to acquire a Security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenshipUnderstanding of computer accounting systems and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel) Must be able to hear over and speak clearly on a standard telephone; use keyboard and calculator; and travel on commercial means of transportation. Must have a standard driver's license. Superior level of understanding of general ledger processes.
