Argon ST is currently searching for a Staff Accountant to work out of our Fairfax, VA, headquarters building.



Position Description
Reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for suporting finance and accounting functions related to general ledger activity and financial statements. The position will require a professional with good analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence and high standards.
 
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
 
- Supporting the Assistant Corporate Controller in producing accurate and timely financial statements and reports, in accordance with GAAP
- Entering daily bank transactions into Costpoint accounting software
- Entering transactions into fixed asset sub-ledger and reconciling of data
- Preparing month-end recurring journal entries
- Analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts
- Participation in activities to assure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Providing support for quarterly reviews and annual audits by an outside audit firm
- Performing other financial statement support, as assigned

Basic Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- Minimum 2 years related experience
- Deltek/Costpoint equivalent experience
- Familiarity with government contracting rules, regulations & requirements
 

Other Requirements
- CPA certificate or CPA candidate
- Sound knowledge of GAAP compliance
- Strong analytical skills, with focus and attention on detail
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and in a team environment
- Good judgment with the ability to meet all deadlines and produce accurate results
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
