Sr Payroll Specialist

We are presently seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to work with one of our Houston clients.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Process large volume multi-state payroll (20,000 employees) for US and Canadian companies.Ensure all PeopleSoft payroll jobs (ex: Calculation process, Confirmation process) are processed according to documented checklist and published deadlines.Work closely with other members of the Payroll Team to ensure associates are paid timely and accurately.Review all submitted paperwork for completeness and accuracy; follow up with appropriate parties as needed.Respond to customer inquiries on a timely basis.Provide payment recommendations where appropriate.Process and review all audit reports to confirm accuracy of payroll data.Develop a thorough understanding of client business rules including timekeeping in order to provide quality service to the client and ensure accuracy of data.Secure and verify all appropriate forms prior to processing requested transactions.Review system calculations for paychecks to ensure accuracy.Contact and assist locations in process of obtaining information for payroll production and other payroll related issues.Test system fixes in test environment; present pass/fail findings to management.Work with other members of the Payroll Team to obtain understanding of how their roles and job functions impact employee payments.
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years multi-state payroll experience Strong communication skills – both written and verbal Ability to effectively present information in responding to questions from customer management and employees Customer service oriented with high sense of urgency Strong analytical skills Ability to work well in a team environmentAbility to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment Intermediate Excel skills PeopleSoft experience requiredSound knowledge of Canadian payroll practices required
