Sr Payroll Administrator

XenoPort is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing a portfolio of internally discovered product candidates for the potential treatment of central nervous system (CNS) disorders. 

 

We are currently looking for an experienced payroll professional to join our Finance team.  In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for all functions of the payroll process and related duties, as well as various general ledger duties.  In addition, the candidate should have a keen interest to learn and participate in other accounting duties as his/her career progresses.

 

Responsibilities include

· processing semi-monthly payroll for all employees using ADP;

· monitoring and processing weekly and monthly timesheets;

· preparing commission payments;

· processing stock-related transactions;

· preparing payroll related journal entries, including accrued payroll;

· performing semi-monthly and monthly payroll reconciliation;

· preparing weekly check requests for review and signature for mid-pay period transactions;

· preparing 401(k) contribution, loan repayment files, health and dependent care records;

· reconciling monthly health benefits and long-term disability premium statements;

· updating F/PTO schedules;

· assisting in preparing schedules for year-end audit and quarterly reviews;

· maintaining employee files;

· Year-end payroll processing, including review and correction of W-2’s;

· orientating and educating employees on the payroll process;

· setting up multi-state payroll as the company grows;

· preparing commission payments;

· and backing-up Stock Administration functions.

 

 

 Qualifications and Other Required Knowledge and Skills:

 

Requires an Associate or a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a business-related degree.  Must have five or more years of payroll experience, including two or more with ADP.  Related experience in stock administration is a plus.  Must be comfortable with Excel.  Prior employment within a biopharmaceutical company is a plus.  Knowledge of Oracle, MS office, Equity Edge and other financial systems is a plus.

 

Must have the ability to execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.  Strong attention to detail and being well organized, proactive, assertive and taking a creative approach to problem solving is necessary as functions interface with different areas of accounting and finance.
