Senior Pricing Manager, Books The Amazon.com Books team is looking for an analytical and technically skilled individual with experience in consumer-oriented pricing, preferably in a retail environment. This role is responsible for independently proposing, developing, researching and analyzing pricing strategies as well as those proposed by senior management. The role also leads testing and evaluating current and proposed pricing strategies and developing effective, repeatable, methods for such tests. A qualified candidate must have strong quantitative and analytical skills, ideally with a Masters+ in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field. Testing - evaluating pricing today and tomorrow Develop models for quickly and accurately evaluating the efficiency of pricing initiatives and tools Strategy - drive the future of pricing at Amazon: Propose, research and evaluate various pricing strategies Drive development of quantitative models necessary for evaluation and implementation of new strategies Perform ongoing tests of pricing models and systems Skills/Attributes/Abilities Experience with statistical analysis, regression modeling and forecasting, time series analysis, data mining, financial analysis, dynamic pricing, demand modeling, game theory and customer/product segmentation. Strong attention to detail, good follow-through, and highly goal oriented. Desired attributes would include being highly flexible, solutions-oriented, and a quick learner. Must be able to move quickly on multiple projects. A willingness to dive into software environments and technical issues as part of maintaining the skills necessary to manage and advocate products and projects SQL, SAS, SPSS, Access and Advanced Excel skills needed Experience A Masters+ in Economics Mathematics or Statistics, with a focus on quantitative analysis. A proven track record of developing pricing strategies and performing pricing analysis in a consumer environment, preferably in a retail setting. Experience solving complex and large-scale pricing problems; experience in the development of large-scale pricing applications is a strong plus.
