THE OPPORTUNITY:
Based in Toronto, Canada and reporting to the Global Head of Tax HR and L&D, the primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to represent and drive value-added programs like the Tax Business School within Learning, Development, Performance and Workforce Capability for the Global Tax group.
Leadership responsibilities include:Working with the Tax Business School (TBS) Steering Committee to strengthen workforce capability and performance throughout the Global Tax function and support ongoing development and deployment of the KPMG TBS Consult with senior partners regarding performance and learning priorities and interacts with the Global Tax HR team and the People, Performance & Culture (PPC) team to ensure alignment with broader HR strategies. Act as project leader and subject matter expert for Global Tax strategic learning. Chair and facilitate the TBS Steering Committee.
Additional responsibilities include:Continue to roll-out the TBS across member firms, ensuring appropriate liaison between tax practices and providing project management to maintain timely intervention and delivery of associated workstreams. This individual will also be responsible for liaison with Global Tax Marketing to ensure alignment to the Global Tax brand amplification project and appropriate synergy with Global Advisory and Audit technical training provisions / PPC / Compass frameworks. Working to continuously strengthen the quality of the TBS through developing and monitoring KPI’s to track satisfaction and ROI, facilitating quality reviews, self-assessments, consolidating findings and formulating recommendations with the TBS Steering Committee. Consult with Senior Tax Partners, TBS Steering Committee and other key stakeholders, to understand business strategies, translate the related business objectives/needs into specific performance and/or learning needs and recommend the appropriate learning solutions. Collaborate with the TBS Steering Committee to lead the development of tax technical learning strategies, workstreams and learning paths, providing ad hoc leadership to instructional designers, technology-based learning specialists, and subject matter experts. Provide team leadership and coaching to a virtual, global team of facilitators/administrators responsible for delivering international and regional TBS courses. Liaise and work with Learning & Development colleagues in other functions (Audit & Advisory) and global groupings (PPC, Compass) to prevent duplication in effort and create efficiencies in spend. In conjunction with the TBS Steering Committee, oversee learning projects by determining and getting sign-off approval for learning project plans and budgets; overseeing the human and monetary resources committed to learning projects; and ensuring the timelines and budget parameters are achieved while meeting or exceeding the business' expectations. Define appropriate learning methodology (s) to address business needs for results-focused learning solutions (For example, multimedia, classroom, eLearning, virtual classrooms, self-study) to ensure minimum thresholds of the TBS are upheld and deployed in an efficient manner.

THE SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS:
A successful candidate will possess the following skills and behaviours:Previous experience as a Tax, Finance or Accounting practitioner ideally within professional services 7 to 10 years of experience in developing technical, business driven learning strategies and solutions through expertise in Learning, Development, Performance and Workforce Capability. Experience advising senior business leaders on the design of performance and learning solution projects, through to implementation and evaluation, ensuring all programs are linked to business requirements. Proven experience assisting an organization to accomplish strategically directed change by managing learning projects from the assessment through to the evaluation stages for all business-driven learning solutions. Strong consensus building, negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills whereby stakeholders are senior business leaders. A proven ability to analyze and synthesize diverging viewpoints so as to assist the ITSG to clarify the business' specific performance and tax technical learning needs. A solid understanding of the tax professional services industry and KPMG's business/ related key business metrics would be an asset. Experience in performance consulting, curriculum development and management. A seasoned leader with experience managing resources ideally within a virtual environment. Excel in strategic influencing, relationship management, coaching/leadership and communication skills (presentation, written, etc). Experience in professional services and tax would be an asset. Post graduate degree (MBA or Masters in Education). Must be able to travel internationally (15 - 30%).
