Senior Informatica Power Center ETL Developer - Contract

We are the primary vendor for a large scale financial client near Vernon Hills that is looking for 2 ETL developers.  It’s a complex project and we need 2 people that can start relatively soon.

 4 months with possible extension.

 Technical Skills

· Informatica Power Center – Expert experience in both Power Center v7.3 for at least two years and Power Center 8.5 for at least one year

· Experience with relational databases including Oracle v9i and v10g, SQL Server and Sybase

· Strong experience with Database scripting including PL/SQL and T/SQL

· Modeling tools:  Erwin, Visual Modeler, etc.

· Monitoring tools:  Oracle Enterprise Manager, Microsoft Performance Monitor, etc.

· Enterprise application integration including third-party systems and middleware tools

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

 

Under general supervision, the Database and ETL Developer is responsible for managing, coordinating and participating in activities related to the design, specification, documentation, and implementation of the enterprise’s service delivery platforms and support systems regarding data.  The person in this role will manage the creation, maintenance and enhancement of the overall data architecture across all initiatives, define, implement and enforce technical standards, and guide application development team members regarding data implementations.

 

The Database and ETL Developer must possess expert experience in database platform design and administration, in relational database design and implementation, and in application development, in addition to the potential to set technical direction at an enterprise level.  This includes an expert working knowledge of data modeling, object oriented development methodologies, experience with multiple technology platforms, and the ability to meet or exceed business requirements through data design and implementation.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Design, develop, enhance and maintain database solutions within software applications by authoring proof of concept functionality, authoring prototype applications, and assisting in critical support issues

· Proficiency in business analysis, event modeling, data modeling, logical and physical database design, data acquisition analysis and design, data access analysis and design, DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management

· Assist in developing a rigorous set of models for how the data is to be structured and used to ensure that transaction processing is efficient and effective and that information to support decision making is readily available

· Analyze functional requirements to define technology, tools and platform standards by researching and understanding issues of technology advancement and manage efforts to implement new tools and platforms.

· Research and propose technical solutions to challenges, as required by the business, by formally presenting the approach, advantages, and disadvantages of all proposed solutions.

· Review technical design documentation as required by each project

· Author overall system technical documentation

· Ensure adherence to departmental processing standards

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline

 

Experience

· Minimum 5 years in IT

· Expert experience with creating, modifying, and supporting Extract, Transfer, Load (ETL) processes

· Expert experience in technical database design, administration and support, including demonstrated experience working with structured methodologies and participating in the design and development of large-scale applications in a distributed computing environment

· Expert experience with relational database platform architecture, design, administration and support

· Expert application infrastructure experience

· Ability to consolidate business and technical requirements and model data appropriately

· Ability to apply innovative approaches to solving design and technical issues

· Solid experience with monitoring and analyzing production database platforms

 

Technical Skills

· N-Tier architecture, web infrastructure, security, and firewalls
