Senior Associate, State and Local Tax Services

We are currently seeking a Senior Associate to join us in our Atlanta office. KPMG's State and Local Tax (SALT) practice needs more members for their Income Franchise team. KPMG's SALT practice assists clients as they work to reduce their tax liabilities and enhance the bottom line. As a national practice, SALT is committed to bringing some of the best professionals to each engagement and providing dynamic tax services to clients. Responsibilities: - Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies which includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests - Assist state and local tax professionals with tax planning, refund analysis, nexus review, and contractual registrations - Research and draft technical memoranda regarding income and franchise tax questions - Supervise, mentor, and develop staff - Assist with targeted marketing, plans, refund analysis, nexus review, and contractual registrations - Oversight and delivery of large client project engagements Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or a related field of study from an accredited college/university - Two or more years of experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues - Possess technical proficiency in SALT income/franchise taxation - Working knowledge of state and local income and franchise issues including filing methodologies, apportionment, nexus, etc. - Experience with tax return preparation - Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills KPMG offers and supports flexible work arrangements as well as part-time schedules.
