Senior Accountant – Northwest Houston

Our client is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Accountant for their corporate office located in northwest Houston.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Description – Senior Accountant position will report to the Accounting Manager, participate in day-to-day accounting activities related to internal reporting and the general ledger.  Expected to be a leader and a team builder, able to communicate and work effectively with people in various departments within the Company, including operations, sales and executive.  The Senior Accountant should display a positive attitude and the ability to pay attention to detail.

Responsibilities – The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accuracy, timeliness and general integrity of the general ledger and related reports. The Senior Accountant will also provide input into system and report format changes as well as support the following functions/areas:

Monthly Close - prepare account reconciliations and general ledger journal entries and insure appropriate controls are being followed.

Financial Statements – prepare monthly balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows for compilation into the monthly financial binders for review by management.

Audit Assistance - assist with preparation of financial schedules for use by external auditors and assist the Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller and Controller with various external audit tasks and issues.

Other - assist Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller and Controller with special projects and/or accounting for special transactions. Prepare certain reports and reconciliations as requested by the Controller.

Analysis – prepare monthly expense and revenue variance analyses for use by operations and management.

Qualifications –

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• Minimum of 5 years experience

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel)

• Self-motivated team player

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Crystal report writing and Macola financial applications a plus
