SENIOR SPECIALIST FINANCIAL REPORTING

LARGE COMPANY IN WASHINGTON, DC IS SEARCHING FOR A SENIOR SPECIALIST OF FINANCIAL REPORTINGHas direct responsibility for preparing and conducting detail review of financial reports prepared for senior management, board of directors, shareholders, regulators and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).- Principally involved with the preparation and filing of SEC reports,regulatory financial filings and Board of Director reports.{ Assists in drafting both non-financial and financial sections of SECreports (e.g. management discussion, footnotes) and Earnings Releases.{ Conducts accounting research, interprets and assists in developingcompany policy on GAAP standards and compliance with SEC accounting rules and regulations.- Prepares financial statements, footnotes and written communicationsdiscussing financial results and the future direction of the Company.- Complies with existing controls and procedures related to Section 404of Sarbanes Oxley by ensuring that financial information included in financial statements and footnote disclosures is properly supported and documented, and that formal policies and procedures are updated to depict current processes within the Financial Reporting area.- Conducts detail review of external reports and internal reports.- Justifies and explains underlying accounting theory to internal andexternal audiences.- Coordinates the work processes involving financial reporting andtrains others in new procedures and systems in addition to working with others both inside/outside the section.- Researches and interprets complex accounting transactions andmulti-jurisdictional regulatory requirements and applies this knowledge in analyzing, summarizing and reporting financial data to shareholders, SEC, regulators, senior management and the Board of Directors.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Accounting, plus 5+ years relevant business experience. CPA, MBA or CMA required. Extensive knowledge of, and the ability to apply GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements to complex financial transactions.
