Resource Manager - Audit and Assurance

The Montreal Audit and Assurance Group (AAG) is looking for an ambitious and results oriented individual to join the management team as their Resource Manager.

As Resource Manager, you will be responsible for managing, in consultation with local leadership, the AAG Managers and Staff resources in the Montreal office. The results achieved will contribute significantly to meeting the planned business metrics for the Montreal AAG practice

The Resource Manager reports to the AAG National Director, Resource Management, and is supported by a Resource Specialist and a Resource Coordinator. The Resource Manager also works indirectly with the Montreal AAG Site Leader and HR Partner



As a Resource Manager, you will work closely with other members of the National Resource Management Team as well as Human Resources in carrying out the following responsibilities:



Talent Management

- Strategically plan and oversee the allocation of resources to client engagement and firm projects to ensure alignment with AAG's strategic priorities;

- Develop and implement action plans to meet the firm's goals related to worklife flexibility, talent mapping, and mobility as they relate to resource management;

- Gather information from coaches on strengths, weaknesses, development goals and client preferences of Staff and Managers to aid in their career development;

- Discuss career planning of Managers/Senior Managers (short, mid and long term) with Partners and HR and help develop action plans;

- Liaise with HC to give high performers developmental and interesting opportunities

- Analyze staff requests and business needs to establish new career paths if needed;

- Develop tools to be able to easily match interests of staff with firm needs, before forecasting for the next year;

- Communicate with leadership in regards to special situations that may arise;

- Management of non-chargeable activities to provide balanced work programs to Managers and Staff that meet their personal interests and developmental goals

- Involvement in the firm's career day;

- Consult other lines of service (LOS) for short-term transfer opportunities



Deployment Management

- Proactive management of Staff and Manager deployment related to the delivery of productivity metrics of the office;

- Manager assignment allocations, in consultation with all stakeholders, including engagement Partners and Partner coaches;

- Limited staff assignment allocations, primarily related to conflict resolution support on staffing requests, specials and/or other unanticipated assignments

- Management of client schedules for Client Account Administrators;

- Leadership and co-ordination of annual staff planning process, including interaction with local Profitability Champion;

- Proactive management of staff availability including communication to all regional counterparts



Financial Reporting

- Analyze productivity results and develop the appropriate action plan (e.g. balancing overtime amongst staff, improve utilization, etc.);

- Review ad-hoc reports, prepared by the Resource Specialist, as required by local and National AAG leadership



Other matters

- Working together with the AAG_HC Manager, review the assignment of Partner coaches to Managers as appropriately determined from work programs and career development goals;

- Attendance and presentation at monthly Manager & Partner meetings;

- Coaching and supervision of Resource Specialist and Resource Coordinator



Job Requirements

- Management experience, managing people, projects or both;

- Ability to deal confidently with Partners, Managers, and all staff levels in a professional manner, recognizing the confidential nature of the work at all times;

- Confident working with financial and business information;

- Superior communication skills (English and French oral and written);

- Very strong sense of professionalism, integrity, sound judgment and tact;

- Self confident with the ability to make decisions;

- Exceptional time management and organizational skills to meet frequent deadlines;

- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment;

- Ability to cope with pressure during peak times, and work additional hours to meet the demands.

- Able to negotiate and influence effectively;

- Be a proactive self starter with a high level of personal motivation;

- Multitask, set appropriate priorities and consistently meet set deadlines;

- Think strategically & creatively



Years Experience

Minimum of 5 years experience in a professional services firm, either Audit or Human Resources related. Audit experience preferred. Experience in Human Resources or resource management/deployment in the accounting profession and/or professional services environment is desirable.



Education Requirement

Degree in Human Resources and/or CA qualification preferred
