JOB SUMMARY

Independently reviews and evaluates Peace of Mind (POM) claims   Follow established company requirements, procedures, practices, and policies, determine correct resolution for POM claims. Determine outcome of claim based upon an analysis of the facts and applicable rules and laws. Strive to achieve department’s service level agreement in regards to claim volume expectations.

 

JOB DUTIESReviews claims and related documents for completeness. Contacts field personnel for missing information.  Logs claim actions into eClaims Management System.  Reviews POM claims and related documents for determination of correct tax liability. Compares the tax computation of any taxing authority proposed changes to determine validity.Prepares written communication to resolve claim issues. Develops client conscious communications to enhance the POM client experience.Assists in the preparation of reports in respect to end of tax season/end of tax year data related to POM claims.Monitors and assists in training the On Demand field claim processors. Provides support and feedback of claims processed.Reviews, updates, edits, and proof reads existing applicable state tax content published with the Tax Research Knowledge Base.Monitors and analyzes new state or local tax developments to determine effects on POM claims. Assists in providing information to be utilized in the development of tax training seminars with regards to POM related issues.  Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTSAssociate degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.A minimum of three years of tax preparation experience.Knowledge of tax law sufficient to understand and explain most elements of federal and state personal income taxation as they apply to H&R Block’s client demographics.Knowledge of federal and state tax research principles, procedures, and techniques.Demonstrated ability to effectively research tax issues and effectively communicate findings to field associates.Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a diverse work group.Demonstrated critical conceptual and intellectual skills.Ability to use a systematic approach in solving problems through analysis and evaluation of alternative solutions.Ability to interact effectively with all levels within the company.
