Pension - 401(k) - Retirement Plan Administrator / Consultant
SuperiorUSA Corporation, a fast growing, Duluth and Minneapolis-based payroll and benefits administration/consulting firm, is seeking a new team member in our Retirement Services department. In this area, we work as a third party administrator (TPA) of defined contribution plans including 401(k), profit sharing, 403(b), and MPP plans primarily.
We are looking for multiple hires in this area, from applicants with minimal relevant experience to experienced, manager-level administrators from within the industry. Depending on skill-level and experience, your responsibilities will involve managing and servicing a book of retirement plan clients, working with partners/contacts including financial advisors and fund companies, performing year end valuations, administration, and compliance testing, preparing Form 5500’s, plan design consulting, plan document and amendment preparation, performing DOL and IRS correction procedures, trust accounting and balance forward valuations, transaction processing including distributions and loans, payroll and contribution remittances, etc.
Compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and education. The positions in this area are salaried and will be eligible for full benefits including group medical insurance, 401(k) and profit sharing, Section 125 flex/cafeteria, AFLAC ancillary insurances, and PTO. We also structure performance incentives and bonuses as well as comp time arrangements since this industry experiences a busy season after year end (on the plus side, hours are much shorter in the summer months). Minimal to no travel will be required. There is a significant opportunity for advancement within our organization since we have a history of promoting from within given the specialized kind of work that we do. Our office atmosphere is generally laid back and administrators operate with a great deal of independence and flexibility.
Applicants should possess strong communication and customer service skills, adept computer skills, strong technical and conceptual abilities (such as in applying accounting, investment, and legal concepts), an attention to detail, a willingness to learn and solve problems, and the desire to be part of a team. While direct experience working with a TPA, administering retirement plans, or similar is preferred, no specific experience is required though some relevant experience is expected (such as in accounting, benefits administration, human resources, or financial services/investments). In addition, experience with Relius (our administration system), Accudraft (our document software), professional designations (CPA, QPA, QKA, etc.), or pension / defined benefit plans, will be considered pluses. The positions could be filled in either our Duluth or Minneapolis, MN offices (reimbursement for relocation can be arranged as part of a compensationpackage).
