Payroll & Personnel Solutions Field Senior Specialist Purpose of Job: The primary role of this job is to provide services to all Partners, Directors and all employees of the firm. The Payroll & Personnel Solutions (PPS) Senior Specialist role handles all aspects of payroll and personnel data integrity, processing identically as a specialist. In addition, the senior specialists are responsible for managing special projects, troubleshooting system related issues, escalating unresolved client / team related matters to the field manager or team lead, training of new payroll specialists and for overseeing department staff if the manager or team lead is not available.   Major Responsibilities: - Acts as the department's team lead when a manager is unavailable or absent and, on occasions, is required to sign-off on various transactions. - Manages independently or assists the team lead with the training of new payroll specialists and, at times, will be requested to assist in the interview process for prospective payroll candidates. - Researches and troubleshoots system related payroll calculations and processing issues and, in most cases, would be expected to resolve these matters independently or propose a resolution of these matters to the PPS manager if necessary. - Proactively protects firm assets by ensuring collections of all monies due the firm. - Serves as Lead for any PPS special project assignments. - Often takes the lead on National PPS documentation process in terms of the assembly of facts and systems documentation and in initiating the write-up of any process flows or modifications to those work flows. - Proactively monitors Central Notification Database for all personnel activity as it relates to New Hires, Transfers, Salary continuation and Separations. - Provisions new hire or rehire candidates for submission into SAP HR as it relates to the on-boarding process to ensure that an employee is set up and paid properly through the Firm's payroll system, as well as enable them to accessapplications and systems that make the employee functional. - Processes all documentation related to separating employees, interpreting separation agreements as they relate to payments for salary continuations, coordinate distribution of their final payment which includes the calculating of PTO and possible collection of any outstanding balances such as overdrawn PTO, loans, relocation or signing bonuses. - Processes off cycle paychecks, but only when necessary to prevent additional administrative costs for the Firm, but to ensure that an employee is paid timely. - Research complex payroll matters such as recognizing State law differences as they relate to W2 year end queries, relocation issues, payment or non-payment on hourly paid employees. - Performs any other tasks as assigned by the PPS Manager or Team Lead. - High School diploma accepted but degree preferred. - Three to five years in payroll and taxes, human resources and/or customer service is required. - Overall understanding of tax reciprocal agreements, legalities of docking pay, collections, leaves of absences and flexible work arrangements. - Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, make educated and informed decisions and follow through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures. - Must have a very high attention for detail; superior follow-up, organization and analytical skills. - Must have strong customer service skills and be deadline oriented.  - Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary as is the ability to communicate effectively with management and staff of all levels. - Integrity and confidentiality are critical. - Computer proficiency is required, including MS word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook. Knowledge of payroll applications such as SAP is helpful.
