Complete Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides workflow and business process design analysis expertise with our Sage Software products to recommend and implement technology solutions that improve the deliver and efficiency of product. Acts as liaison with the tax service and internal IS department. Identifies, researches and documents tax system changes necessary to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, DOL, ERISA, IRS, SSA, state and local regulations. Performs analysis on current systems to determine interface requirements between Oracle Payroll, EDP.com and CIC. Has a thorough knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax laws and compliance of these laws.
1. Balances the 215A & B EDP interfaces weekly. Research may be required to identify any out-of-balance conditions to the upload between Oracle and EDP/YETS.
2. Performs regression testing of quarterly and emergency EDP updates. Creates test plans for testing system changes and reports test results to IS for approval to migrate to production.
3. Assists Sage Software personnel and 7-Eleven IS support staff in root cause analysis for resolution of ongoing system malfunctions.
4. Tests changes to the Oracle Payroll System to ensure that interfaces to EDP/ YETS are not affected. This is ongoing due to monthly Vertex updates and semi-annual upgrades.
5. Evaluates EDP/YETS product enhancements and upgrades and determines impact on current business processes. Recommends interface changes as needed to accommodate new EDP functionality.
6. Develops and executes ad-hoc Oracle SQL scripts in order to effect auditable mass changes to Sage Software EDP data as requested and approved by management.
7. Develops and executes regular and ad hoc SQL queries against Sage Software Oracle database for custom reporting requirements.
8. Through custom SQL queries and imports/exports into/from Sage Software EDP Payroll Tax System and Sage Software Year End Tax System, assists with all Year End balancing between Oracle and EDP/YETS, including the CIC year-end interface.
9. Through custom SQL queries and imports/exports into/from Sage Software EDP Payroll Tax System and Sage Software Year End Tax System, performs quarterly Year End balancing process to ensure data integrity between all systems. Creates and documents methodology for this process.
10. Runs weekly tax related interfaces. Responsible for importing all payroll taxes into the FLS eDP product and resolution of any errors encountered during the import process. This involves research that may result in discovery of new system or interface bugs to be resolved. Documents process and trains backup personnel.
11. Continuously evaluates payroll, payroll tax and market office processes and procedures to identify areas that are problematic or can be improved. Makes recommendations and assists in implementation and documentation of process and procedure changes.
12. Assists payroll, payroll tax department and IS personnel in the installation and configuration of Sage Software products and related utilities, utilizing Oracle ODBC, system environment variables, TNSNAMES/SID configuration, and Oracle database instance/schema management. This includes the management/refresh of data in the Sage Software EDP Payroll Tax and Year End Tax systems to accommodate multiple ongoing data integrity projects simultaneously.
13. Other special projects and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Position requires specialized knowledge in payroll tax and AP/AR/FA systems, which is normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree, plus 3-5 years of payroll and business analysis. Without a degree, position requires a CPP or 5-10 years high-volume tax processing using payroll tax systems with proven results.
SKILLS
Position requires computer skills necessary to understand and use multiple systems such as Oracle HRIS, Sage Software payroll tax products, SQL, and the MS suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access. Great communication skills, both verbal and written are necessary to correspond with other technical areas and legal entities.
