Payment Poster
Description
A dynamic and rapidly growing White Plains consulting firm seeks a full time Payment Poster to handle all aspects of cash allocation and posting for our medical billing practice.
Responsibilities
· Timely and accurate application of cash to patients’ invoices.
· Handle daily EFT and physical deposits, prepare posting ledgers for multiple locations/groups.
· Identify proper allocation for deposits and address any conflicting amounts.
· Apply all payments received to appropriate patients’ accounts, and balance to deposit total.
· Denial posting and forwarding to management/staff for resolution.
· Identify and forward to management/staff all under/overpayments based on plans, contracted rates, expectations, or trends.
· Enter appropriate account notes to reflect problems identified and action taken.
· Post appropriate adjustments and responsibility/balance transfers.
· Update Excel cash receipts log and prepare daily cash report from financial system, reconciling all items.
· Prepare daily schedule of unidentified deposits and follow up with inquiries to determine appropriate allocation.
· Prepare daily/monthly reconciliations for multi-company cash accounts.
· Document, research and analyze high volume of deposits and reconciling items.
· Conduct prompt and consistent follow-up until reconciling items are cleared.
· Confirm and report unusual activity relative to account transactions.
· Keep management informed of all cash-flow related issues.
Education
· High School Diploma or GED supplemented with course work in typing, business machine and personal computer operations.
Experience
· At least two years of experience in deposit and batch preparation.
Knowledge
· Understanding of medical terminology.
· MS Office proficiency with strong emphasis on Excel
