Operations Supervisor

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor is accountable for the day to day operations of the recycling facility production and manual de-manufacturing process. The Operations Supervisor also provides daily direction and leadership to the operations/warehouse employees, ensures compliance of all Company policies, procedures; and enforces Company directives and safety policies.



NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and attaining productivity and warehousing goals in accordance with established policies and procedures, while maintaining the highest quality of standards. The Operations Supervisor will adhere to company policies in the area of Safety, Health, Environment and Community. The Operations Supervisor will need to display the ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form. They need to have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate cross-functionally interfacing with other departments. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for providing training and guidance to the current workforce to ensure continuous employee growth.



SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•Maintain a safe work environment.

•Cost control/reduction.

•Cooperate with the Industrial Engineer towards the Lean Six Sigma program.

•Establish and maintain a well-balanced and well trained workforce.

•Maintain positive employee relations.

•Direct supervision of Production, Shipping, Receiving subordinates.

•Manage and attain production goals and other related projects.

•Help maintain/write SOP’s/SWP’s for production and or equipment usage.

•Clearly outline production goals to departments.

•Develop and implement training programs for operatives in cooperation with the company's safety program, etc.

•Conduct regularly scheduled operation related meetings.

•Minimizing the process inventory and achieving the highest level of inventory accuracy.

•Tracking performance data to ensure that customer contract requirements are being achieved.

•Reporting any performance variations within 24 hours with an action plan.

•Responsible for accurate data and communications being relayed to the Customer Relations Group.

•Ensure that all Associates are treated fairly and equitably as documented in the company's handbook.

•Other duties as assigned.



RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Operations Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, SHEC, Human Resources, Engineering Group, IT Group, Supervisors, North Region General Manager, Associates, etc.

External: Vendors, suppliers, etc.



Requirements:

•Accredited Associate or Bachelors Degree in Business, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent degree and related business experience desired.

•3+ years demonstrated and applicable hands on experience working in an industrial environment in a supervisory position.

•Experience to include Lean and/or Six Sigma.

•Experience in the recycling field desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS:



Physical:

•Typical office and warehouse environment, which includes a controlled environment and some exposure to dust, cold, and heat when in the warehouse.

•Must be able to lift 50+lbs.

•Noise level in the warehouse is low to loud depending on ones location Time is spent sitting, standing and walking.

•It is to the understanding of both parties that schedules may be adjusted as the business needs dictate.

•Must be able to travel to educational courses throughout North America occasionally.

•Must be comfortable with working in heights, confined spaces, and a dusty environment with the proper protection.



Mental:

•Must be able to take on new assignments as needed regardless of existing workload.

•Must work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely manner.
