Job ID: 927Position Description: George Weston Bakeries (GWB) is a direct store delivery fresh baked foods company generating annual revenues in excess of $2.5 billion. The company offers some of the most established and best known brands in the baking industry including Thomas', Arnold, Brownberry, Stroehmann, Freihofer's, Entenmann's (cakes cookies and doughnuts) and Boboli (fresh pizza shells). Formed by the consolidation of several independent companies, including the 2001 acquisition of Unilever's Bestfoods US baking operations, GWB is recognized today for providing a broad portfolio of quality products with the highest levels of customer service. In addition, the company is investing capital in state-of-the-art manufacturing assets at the highest rate in the industry. GWB is one of three divisions of Weston Foods, the $2.5 billion US food unit of Canadian company, George Weston Limited. Weston Foods is a major player in the United States baking industry concentrating on brand development, low operating costs and maintaining a broad customer base with the objective of being the very best provider of bakery solutions and products to its customers. In addition to GWB, Weston Foods other operating units include Interbake Foods (private-label cookies and crackers, Girl Scout cookies, and wafers) and Maplehurst Bakeries (frozen doughs for grocery store bakeries).BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPEProvide leadership to Corporate Accounting Department in performing account analysis, period closes, audit support, reporting to parent company, and perform Shared Service accounting functions.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES•Perform detailed account reconciliation and supporting journal entries for all Balance Sheet Accounts.•Support period close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial results.•Ensure compliance with GWB accounting and reporting standards.•Prepare quarterly financial reporting package for GWBD Distribution Company, and coordinate separate annual audit.•Maintain Business Process Controls for compliance with Internal Audit and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.•Responsible for all aspects of the Revenue Accounting Cycle, including:•Trade accrual analysis and tracking•Analysis of Accounts Receivable in G/L, sales system and subledger•Accounting for both Independent Operator and company owned routes•Third party transactions with Bimbo Bakeries, USA•Miscellaneous cash receipts•Provide support and guidance for staff and senior accountants.•Assume responsibility for other tasks and projects as assigned.Position Requirements:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE•BS/BA Accounting Degree required; CPA/MBA preferred.•8-10+ years of accounting / financial management experience required. •Strong supervisory and communication skills required, both written and verbal.•Ability to work independently and participate as a team player in a cross-functional environment. •Strong analytical, problem solving and accounting skills.•Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven, multi-tasking environment.•Experience with AS/400 and PeopleSoft a plus..
