Our client is a pinnacle destination for cosmetics, fragrance and salon services. A publicly traded company, this leading corporate giant projects an anticipated 280% growth within the next three to seven years.
Due to our client’s astounding success and projected expansion, our client seeks a Manager of Merchandise Finance to provide financial analysis expertise to the Merchant team and serves as the Merchant organization link to the company’s accounting and finance resources.
This is a very high profile position reporting to the Vice President FP&A. The position will be located in a western suburb of Chicago.
Manager of Merchandise Finance Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Merchant team to develop and establish strategies, plans, and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiencies.Work closely with members of the Merchant team to provide ROI (pro forma) analysis and investment decision support, including breakeven and regression analysis and benchmarking, and monitor actual results.Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of merchandise related metrics, including reports and scorecards related to merchant, vendor, category, and SKU.Provide analytical support and reporting in merchant-related areas including sales and margin results, inventory receipts / turns, aged / clearance inventory and vendor terms.Develop and implement vendor / category P&Ls.Develop, implement and continuously improve vendor metrics and scorecards.Provide category GMROI / GMROS and other SKU productivity analyses.Develop and implement localized assortment planning process.Develop new and improve existing financial and operational processes within the merchandising area.Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as directed.Monitor overhead expense budget v. actual results, identify trends, and lead cost containment initiatives.Provide financial support in development of budgets and forecasts.Supervise work of Financial Analyst(s) in the Merchandising department.
Essential Manager of Merchandise Finance Skills & Characteristics
Education & Experience5-8 years of professional financial experience in a retail or consumer products organizationExperience in a financial support role in a retail category management environment helpfulUndergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, MBA is preferred
Skills & CharacteristicsAdvanced analytical skills coupled with an ability to interpret, communicate findings, and make recommendationsAdvanced Excel and Access skillsAbility to influence decision makers through financial analyses and interpersonal skillsAbility to build teams, processes, and models that deliver desired resultsInnate inquisitiveness relative to process workings and financial resultsDesire to see personal and organizational effort lead to bottom line resultsKnowledge of financial processes and internal controlsComfortable working independently and in collaborative manner in a cross-functional environmentProficient in MS Office, SAP or Business Intelligence systems knowledge helpful
