Manager, Property Tax

Headquartered in Houston, we provide natural gas and related energy products in a safe, efficient and dependable manner. Our two core businesses are Pipelines, and Exploration and Production. Our 42,000-mile interstate pipeline system transports more than one-quarter of daily natural gas consumption in the country. We explore for and produce natural gas across the U.S., and in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, and Egypt.
We are searching for a Stellar Property Accounting Manager who will oversee the project costing and asset management functions for Tennessee Gas Pipeline and selected corporate business units. In addition to monthly accounting close processes. The manager will also be charged with interpreting and maintaining the capitalization manual, coordination of updates and improvements with peers.
1. Monthly capital reporting including variance analysis to plan
2. Forecast of depreciation expense and AFUDC
3. Review of the property billings for jointly owned facilities and interconnections
4. Review of regulatory filings with FERC
5. Review of the adequacy of the asset retirement obligations
6. Interacting with Regulatory, Business Development, Engineering and Legal related to capital projects, retirements and property billings
REQUIREMENTS
1. Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
2. 7 plus years accounting experience
3. Previous management experience a plus
4. 3 years in energy industry is preferable
5. Effective problem solver with strong interpersonal skills and analytical skills
6. 5 years regulated pipeline property accounting experience
7. Flexibility to changing demands and establishing priorities
8. Proven leadership skills
9. Regulated and PeopleSoft experience preferred
10. Team oriented individual with commitment to excellence and ability to meet expectations in a fast paced environment
