Manager, National Independence Office - Wilton, CT This position in the Independence Group will provide an intense and challenging opportunity for high visibility and frequent consultation with senior technical partners and leaders in addressing a myriad of independence related issues. Candidates will be highly involved in affecting the direction of potential further changes in the independence rules and the interpretation and implementation of new and existing personal independence and scope of services rules for the Deloitte US Entities.  PRIMARY DUTIES: §       Work closely with Professional Practice Directors, Regional Compliance Officers, Lead Client Service Partners and National AERS Consultation Resources on consultations involving the following types of independence issues arising in the Practice Offices: -       Scope of Service questions -       Foreign and domestic service lines -       Personal independence -       Fee arrangements -       Business Relationships -       Deloitte Entity Search and Compliance (DESC) System §        Consultation with the Service Development Board of the Deloitte US Entities on the independence ramifications of potential investments in, and alliances with, other companies §        Attending policy setting meetings, performing research, and proposing guidance to address emerging independence issues §       Drafting comment letters on SEC, PCAOB, and AICPA exposure drafts of new independence standards §        Drafting of internal correspondence aimed at increasing awareness of the independence rules and implications of new SEC, PCAOB, AICPA or other regulatory rulings (e.g. the Frequently Asked Questions document on personal independence) §        Revising the independence policies of the Deloitte US Entities to reflect both rule changes and new Deloitte US Entities' interpretations of existing rules promulgating from "live" consultations §        Revising the Deloitte US Entities' independence training courses and developing new courses as needed to addressboth rule changes and new interpretations of existing rules promulgating from "live" consultations §        Assisting in the development of policies and procedures, and implementing improvements, for the Deloitte Tracking & Trading System §        Preparing materials and presenting independence presentations at internal and external conferences and trainings§        Bachelor degree in accounting, business or finance preferred. CPA or CIA designation preferred. §        Prefer 6+ years in a client service role in the Deloitte U.S. Entities, with demonstrated experience in a lead or subject-matter expert capacity.  Public accounting audit experience (i.e., AERS) or comparable National Office experience. §        Self - starter with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and closure. Strong interpretive skills and analytical abilities. §        Ability to operate independently and thrive in a fast paced, highly flexible organization with a high need for confidentiality. §        Experience and demonstrated ability to work with Professional Practice Directors, Regional Compliance Officers, and Lead Client Service Partners and others in leadership roles for problem resolution, strategy, and process decision making. §        Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential data. §        Strong written, oral communication skills. Experience with spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation packages, preferably Microsoft Office.
