Provides direction and expertise to the Compliance staff to ensure they are provided the necessary tools and escalation path to successfully execute their responsibilities; develop the skills of the compliance staff (LFC Compliance Officers, licensing, research, analysis and project management) through a combination of goal setting, delegation, training, and counseling and performance management. Recommends personnel actions, such as hiring, terminations, promotions, salary actions, staff performance documentation and disciplinary action. Acts as liaison between Channel Compliance and outside business partners (such as, internal and external counsel, compliance support, Corporate Compliance, TSG) or other interested parties of similar (and more senior) rank on matter involving compliance-related issues and concerns. As assigned, the incumbent represents compliance for other business partners’ project teams, such as Legal, Executive Committee and Corporate Compliance to ensure that new products and projects are thoroughly analyzed/examined, and compliant upon completion. Provides status updates and advises Channel Compliance of any critical issues that need escalation.Oversees, conducts, and coordinates the root cause analysis of targeted compliance issues, reports findings and makes recommendations to close gaps to Channel Compliance. Partners with Compliance Support Team to facilitate the management response to internal and external audit findings. Conduct research and/or analysis and prepares response to examination findings. Reviews responses with Channel Compliance for input and guidance. Works with Compliance Support Team to monitor the follow-up activities of mutually agreed upon recommendations and corrective actions. Collaborates with Channel Compliance to initiate appropriate corrective action to implement compliance controls and resolve non-compliance situations. Continually reviews policies, operating procedures, training materials, forms and other documentation to ensure regulatory compliance. Supervises compliance staff’s monitoring activities, reports findings and makes recommendations for corrective action, training, and policy enhancements to Channel Compliance. Supervises the effectiveness of corrective action, training, and policy enhancements, as well as interface (direct or assigned) with regulatory bodies (examiners and agencies).Working under the supervision of the Channel Compliance, develops, maintains, and oversees the management of compliance programs designed to ensure that transactions and operating procedures are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and corporate standards and policies to reduce the exposure of risk to the organization, shareholders, employees, and customers.Assists senior Compliance leadership in the development of compliance and risk management strategies. Develops and or administers programs, policies and processes to implement and execute strategy. Works with business unit staff to provide guidance and expertise to assist them in their day-to-day compliance activities. Bachelors Degree Required 5 years of regulatory compliance experience in a liaison capacity. 12 years in the banking/financial or similarly related industry. WaMu Required: Communicate effectively with diverse groups and individualsWaMu Required: Establish effective work relationships according to requirements of position Concepts, practices and compliance techniques for the financial services industry. Ability to understand complex legal and regulatory issues and laws. Methodologies for researching and analyzing compliance issues.
