Manager Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis
Large publicly held manufacturing plant seeking a solid cost accounting manager who possesses the ability to see the 'big picture' and a high level of energy to continue to lead this profitable plant. Summary:Manage finance and tactical objectives to meet plant objectives through financial analyses, various cost observations and studies on the plant floor. Responsible for cost accounting functions, analyses, studies, internal reporting and related cost records. Provide value-added cost analyses, cost savings, post project and plant spending audits. Assist with Annual Operating Plan (AOP), strategic finance planning, forecasting, auditing, and reconciliations. Prepare statements according to GAAP and SOX. Bachelors Degree required. Duties: Responsible for supporting financial analyses and management reporting. Product Processing Yield Analyses, Direct Labor Analyses, Raw Material Yield (Inventory Adjustments) Analyses, Overhead Analyses, Root Cause Failure Analyses. Responsible for cost studies and new item set-ups.Timely and accurate closings. Ensures that items are correctly classified and statements prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes and Oxley (SOX). Internal controls and supporting audits. Assists in the analytical and/or strategic function including the development of budgeting, planning, and forecasting. Ability to manage function, allocate resources, set priorities, and coordinate many interdependent groups. Involves varied tasks requiring advance problem solving skills. Conceives ideas for solutions to problems. Assesses feasibility of proposed solutions and participates in the resolution of issues. Resolves conflict problems escalated by associates.Accounting & Plant Operations Financial Reporting: Oversees Daily Management and Analyses of Cost Accounting, Internal Policies and Procedures and SOX compliance. Ensures the organization's financial activities are properly classified and coded to the correct accounts within the organization's general ledger, in accordance with GAAP and SOX. Ensures that reconciliation of plants cost accounting activities are kept up to date and that needed corrective actions are undertaken. Ensures that sufficient internal controls and procedures are in place and being followed to protect the plant’s assets (Including but not limited to: authorizations, master file control, transaction processing, etc.). Assists Plant Controller in the preparation of the annual operating plans and interim forecasts, ensuring that proper instructions and historical data are furnished. Oversees all Financial Analysis and Cost Accounting reporting, monitors all relevant Key Performance Indicators and reviews Rate, Volume, Mix, Efficiency, Usage, and Overhead variances. Provides guidance to Management on use of information/reports. Answers questions regarding variances from budget, relationship between revenue levels and expense, cost to perform various activities, and financial forecasts, etc. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MACC or MBA -PreferredCertified Management Accountant (CMA) certification desired5-7 years progressive accounting/financial reporting experience with three years at managerial level with broad accounting/financial/information systems responsibilities desired.Solid computer proficiency: Access, Excel, SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle.
