Manager, Corporate Tax

This role is “hands on”, entailing day-to-day management and direct responsibility of several areas of the tax function. These areas include:

Compliance. Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax filings for CME Group. Research issues related to the preparation of non-income and income tax returns.

Audit defense. Interface with federal and state auditors. Work with Director, Tax on strategy and tactics. Research audit issues and respond to auditor questions.

Tax research. Research a variety of issues across a broad range of taxes, including transactional and project issues. Communicate findings in written and verbal form to a range of internal and external customers, most of whom are not tax fluent. Assist in identification of tax minimization opportunities.

Income tax accounting (financial reporting). Responsible for the preparation of quarterly and yearend tax provisions for CME Group, including preparation of financial statement disclosures. Will also work with the Director and Manager to improve process and output.

This role will work cross-functionally with a wide group, including staff, customers, vendors, and outside consultants. As such, the ability to effectively communicate tax technical terms to a nontax audience is very important. This position also requires the ability to work independently as well as the ability to manage over long distances.



Qualifications:

7-8 years of generalist tax experience

A bachelor’s degree in accounting with a Masters’ degree in tax (or progress towards the degree) is required

FAS 109 experience

Some exposure to international tax, including local foreign tax CPA certification
