Apptis is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team in Chantilly, Virginia!

The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Finance or Corporate Controller and will supervise one or more senior or staff accountants.

The primary goal of the Accounting Manager is to ensure that the financial results are accurately prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals on a timely basis.

This position will involve supervision of other accountants, as well as the ability to effectively coordinate with Financial Operations personnel on a regular basis.

The primary responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

General Ledger:Responsible for managing General Ledger activity, to include monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, intercompany activity and financial analysis / reporting. Management of senior / staff accountants. Preparation and review of adjusting journal entries. Review and post cash receipts on a daily basis, and review any manual (i.e. non-lockbox) deposits made to the bank.

Financial Closing Process: Responsible for all elements of the monthly financial closing process. Reconciliation of the General Ledger to sub-ledgers (e.g. A/R, A/P and Project Ledger). Preparation and review of adjusting/recurring journal entries, including the review of accrual entries submitted by Financial Operations personnel. Prepare, review and analyze financial statements for management. Coordinate with Financial Operations personnel regarding project setup, validation/ correction of revenue recognition calculations, and the review of unbilled A/R balances. Maintain and review indirect rate pools and allocations.

General:Oversee the filing of periodic corporate business, professional, and licensing documents in accordance with state/Federal requirements, and assist with the preparation of schedules to support the filing of income tax returns or state tax audits, if necessary. Assist with the annual preparation of audit schedules and incurred cost submissions. Document and update internal policies and procedures as needed.

4 year Accounting degree.Familiarity with FAR, CAS and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), to include a detailed understanding of revenue recognition concepts. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently, including keeping their immediate supervisor apprised of issues. Solid Excel skills. Attention to detail. Strong communication skills. Ability to read and understand Government/Commercial contracts.

4 year Accounting Degree w/CPA or MBA preferred.Required Experience



Costpoint experience preferred.
