Loan Acquisition Staff Accountant

MGC Mortgage, Inc., a large and growing Plano based residential loan servicing operation, is seeking candidates with strong investor and loan accounting skills.

 

SUMMARY:  The Loan Acquisitions Staff Accountant will be responsible for the initial setup, maintenance and scrubbing of loan data on newly acquired and existing loan portfolios.  Additionally, some development work ( with the help of our IT staff) will be required to develop new reports and data extracts as necessary.  Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) and Federal Reserve (FRB) reporting and database management will also be a responsibility of this position. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Initial setup of loan portfolios acquired will involve gathering information from the Acquisitions group and loan servicers and loading to the Microsoft Access consolidated loan database.  This position will also be responsible for monitoring and reviewing interim remittances to ensure timely receipt, recording and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts involved.  This position will develop and maintain a contact list of new servicers or sellers.

 

Maintenance includes documentation of the fields, data flows, reporting in existing databases and updating newly acquired loan pools or monthly remittance data.  This position will document and update procedures from the existing tables, queries and reports as well as data flow.  Data scrubbing will be required to ensure the accuracy of loan information.  This will require someone who understands the basics of a loan and has the ability to research nonconforming loan data. 

 

FHLB and FRB reporting will involve gathering and manipulating loan data into the proper format on a monthly basis.  Loans on the in-house loan system as well as loans serviced by others will be included in the reporting scope.  Emphasis will be placed on the timeliness and integrity of the data reported.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires three 3-5 years of proven ability in managing Microsoft Access databases or the ability to easily transition from similar database structures. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  A degree in Accounting or Finance is required.  Must have a general understanding of loan accounting or investor accounting. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: English

 

OTHER SKILLS:  Microsoft Access, Excel and Word.  Would like Microsoft Dynamics GP experience, but this is not required.
