Item Processing Specialist

Bank located in the 281/1604 area has an immediate need for an experienced Servicing Support/Item Processing Specialist.  This is a Temp to Perm position.  Starting pay is $12-13/hr.   Job Summary:Analyzes and processes account servicing issues.  Posts online deposits and payments, data entry, and performs record research.  Verifies general ledger accounts reconciliations.  Performs a variety of clerical duties.  Reports directly to the Operations Manager.     Essential Functions:1. Analyzes and processes entries to various General Ledger accounts both on the item processor and on the bank’s online systems. 2. Processes rejected items by working unposted loan payments. Analyze and process loan disbursement entries.  Ensures fees, interest and principal payment are allocated and posted correctly. 3. Assists the collection department by setting payment schedules for loans. Ensures charge-off accounts are properly processed.4. Prepares end of day cash letters that are directly transferred to the Federal Reserve through a secured website.5. Downloads and transmits ACH files directly to the Federal Reserve through the use of a highly secured TOKEN. Evaluates / processes ACH returns and ACH changes. Assists with payment processing and research requests.6. Downloads the incoming check file directly from a connection with the Federal Reserve through a secure connection.  7. Analyzes and transmits the Check 21 File directly to the Federal Reserve through a secure connection.  8. Processes and generates direct check requests.9. Prepares incoming / outgoing wires in accordance with policy and procedures.10. Processes monetary adjustments as required to an account.   11. Reconciles the ATM in Kentucky daily.12. Reconciles daily balance of incoming and outgoing monetary traffic. 13. Makes risk based decisions to provide ultimate customer service without jeopardizing the bank’s safety and welfare.   Additional Responsibilities:1. Records Lockbox Totals.2. Updates credit balance Refunds3. Processes IBC payments4. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.2. Excellent organizational skills.3. Ability to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision.4. Ability to perform with accuracy and attention to detail.5. Computer literate with the ability to use most common software programs included with MS Office.6. Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information.7. Excellent problem/resolution skills.8. Ability to develop and preserve excellent working relationships with internal and external sources.9. Ability to work a flexible schedule.10. Ability to perform 10-key processing by touch. Education and Experience:1. High school diploma or GED required with some business college credit preferred.2. 1-2 years’ experience with proof, payment, or item processing at a bank.
