Intermediate Income Tax Accountant Primary Role:

Responsible for assisting Senior Income Tax Accountants with all income tax matters of a business region including tax provisions/footnotes, compliance, audits and audits.
Identification and implementation of key tax saving and/or process improvements.


Key Accountabilities:

Prepare quarterly and annual Income Tax Provisions and Tax notes to the financial statements for the region. Assist senior with analyzing tax basis balance sheets and income tax accounts to ensure reporting accuracy. Assist senior with analyzing the region's tax accounting components in the quarterly & annual SEC filing.

Prepare U. S. federal & state income tax returns, estimated payments and extensions. assist in preparing quarterly reconciliations for taxes payable and deferred tax

Help implement changes to Tax Department processes to standardize procedures and increase tax efficiencies. Assist in the development and maintanence of Sarbanes-Oxley controls

Establish relationships with key internal and external groups, including finance, accounting and operational personnel.

Assist federal & state audit requests. Perform tax research and special projects as assigned

Occasional travel

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and tax return software

Knowledge:

Background in income tax accounting, compliance and related research
A minimum of 3 years experience in Tax Compliance and Tax Accounting
Utility industry experience is desirable

CPA or CMA preferred
