Insurance Premium Auditor

Hamel Consolidated, Inc is a company that has been in the auditing business since 1983. We are located in Plano, TX, and we audit in seven states.  We work for insurance companies auditing policy holder records after the policy expires to determine the basis of premium. These commercial policies are written on a fluctuating premium basis (payroll & sales) with estimates given in the beginning and an advance estimated premium is paid. Once the policy is expired we audit to determine the actual premium basis.

 

The auditor will examine payroll records, state & federal quarterly wage reports, cash disbursements and general ledger accounts to determine the basis of premium. The results of the audits are then forwarded to the insurance company for premium calculations.

 

This position requires traveling and a reliable means of transportation is a must. We are looking for an auditor that is located in Baton Rouge to cover the Mid to Southern Louisiana area.

 

Primarily we are looking for a self motivated person that has a degree in Accounting and/or practical Bookkeeping Experience.  Knowledge of Worker’s Comp & General Liability Rules is helpful. We are looking for an auditor that is willing and able to travel with a reliable mode of transportation. You must be able to read financial statements, and be able to navigate payroll records.  We also require that you know how to read Profit & Loss Statements, Cash Disbursements, Quarterly payroll statements, and Federal Tax Returns.

 

Hamel Consolidated, Inc is looking for someone that will represent our company with a professional appearance and demeanor. When audits are assigned, we expect a timely completion of assignments.

 

Please have a proficiency in typing.  Our company uses Lotus as our audit report template.  We are looking for employees that have basic skills in Windows XP and Email Communications. Typing test will be given at time of interview.  Drug test and pre-employment physical may be requested.

 

Auditors in Training will earn in high 30s annually.  Senior Auditors will be paid commensurately. This is a production based job and earnings should be closer to $45,500 with quality and service bonuses up to an additional $12,000 annual. Auditors are reimbursed reasonable travel expenses.
