IT Auditor (New York)

The D. E. Shaw group seeks an IT Auditor to join its Internal Audit department.  The IT Auditor will assist the Vice President of IT Audit and the Chief Audit Executive with a variety of tasks such as evaluating IT general controls, conducting risk assessments, applying analytical procedures, gathering information, executing audit programs, identifying findings, documenting audit work in accordance with firm guidelines, and researching industry best practices.  As skills allow, increased responsibility will be given for audit planning, developing work programs, drafting issues and recommendations, and reviewing controls for complex technology and application environments across different business processes.

The ideal candidate will excel at working both independently and as part of a team and will be able to handle multiple assignments concurrently.  S/he will also possess detailed knowledge of IT audit practices and will be a motivated, organized, and efficient self-starter with strong communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and quantitative skills.  Strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to generate ideas to enhance process flow and procedures are essential.  In addition, a rigorous work ethic and a genuine interest in learning more about IT and internal audit are necessary.  A degree specializing in IT and 2–4 years of relevant IT audit experience are required; a Certified Information Systems Auditor certification and a working knowledge of UNIX are a plus.  Ideal candidates will have proven abilities in both academic and professional environments.
