Position Summary The Department of Electrical Engineering seeks a Grants Manager to be responsible for managing the financial operation and administration for a designated group of faculty members. The Grants Manager will report to the Department Manager and have the following responsibilities:
-Manage the current research funding allocation of $12M spanning 3 cost centers with approximately 11 faculty, 2 office staff, 14 research staff and 60 graduate students
- Responsible for all aspects of pre- and post-award grant administration using the COEUS grants management system, including preparation of budget and proposal packages and ensure all University and sponsor guidelines and deadlines are met
- Oversee sponsor reporting requirements and ensure all reports are submitted on time
- Prepare and present to faculty with monthly projections on all project grants
- Ensure financial integrity of the department with accurate and timely accounts reconciliation and approve travel vouchers, invoices, procurements, reimbursements to employees and students, credit card activities with proper justification
- Supervise and develop faculty assistants who provide financial and administrative support to the faculty, researchers, post-docs and graduate students
- Serve as liaisons among faculty, staff, technical staff, students, administration, and service departments of the University
- Assist Department Manager in projects and duties as needed
- Work with other Grants Managers and Business Manager in the dept. as a team and provide coverage for each other when needed
Essential Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in business or related field, OR equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of budget development, financial analysis and reporting, accounting procedures and reconciliations
- 3 years of supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office applications especially in Excel to create worksheets and graphs
- Ability to work independently and simultaneously on multiple projects, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced teamwork environment
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in managing and administration of sponsored research and grant proposals and familiarity with OMB regulations and federal compliances
- Knowledge of NSF, ONR, DOE, DARPA, NIH guidelines
- Prior work experience in higher education or related field
- Experience with University Financial systems (COEUS, Information Warehouse, People Soft)
