Financial Planning Manager

Job Summary

The financial planning manager has overall responsibility for the budget of the company.  This is a highly visible role within the company and the individual will work directly with the senior management of the company in all aspects of planning and budgeting.  The functions of the position range from moderately to extremely complex, requiring a high level of initiative and communication skills – both written and verbal.

 

 

Job ResponsibilitiesCoordinate, administer and manage the company’s financial planning and budgeting processes, including all subsidiary and partnership arrangements, at both the strategic and tactical / operating levels.Develop the annual operating budget.Provide budget-to-actual analysis and manage forecasting and re-budgeting processes.Conduct scenario modeling.Work with senior technical and administrative management as well as outside advisory board personnel.Manage and control variances, ensuring that budget objectives are met.Other:Establish operation objectives, assignments and performance measurements with supporting managers.Establish increasing levels of productivity, balanced against customer and employee satisfaction.Instill and maintain a proper level of financial discipline within the corporation.Hire, train, and manage a small staff of professional financial analysts.Drive planning and budgeting systems improvements, acting as key leader and visionary in improving productivity and usefulness from the ERP system.

 Qualifications

A baccalaureate business degree is required or sufficient course work in finance, accounting, or a closely related field.  A Masters in Business Administration is highly desirable.  Professional certification such as CPA or CMA would be a plus.

 

Knowledge of:  Principles of finance, economics, and management; techniques of financial analysis and modeling; methods of statistical data analysis; principles of accounting and budgeting; uses of automated financial information systems and spreadsheets; research techniques, sources of financial information and methods of report presentation

 

Skills:  Strong communication skills; self starter; strong analytical skills; detailed oriented; able to drive issues to resolution; able to interact effectively with the upper management

 

Ability to:  Understand and analyze a variety of financial statements and reports; prepare and analyze budgets; gather, interpret and analyze economic and financial data; use computer programs to analyze data, build forecasting models and create "what-if" scenarios; perform and analyze financial studies; communicate technical material clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; make effective presentations to large and small groups; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
