The primary purpose and function of the ETL Developer is to architect, design, develop, test and support data extract, transformation and load (ETL) programs.The application environment includes clinical, financial and operational data.Data Warehouse is in SQL Server 2000 with goal to convert to SQL Server 2005. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design, development and deployment of the ETL and data management processes. Develop and deploy ETL job workflow with reliable error/exception handling and rollback framework. Candidates must have strong data manipulation skills, T-SQL, DTS/SSIS, and Report Writing skills. Support operations by identifying, researching and resolving performance and production issues. Perform the unit testing, system integration testing and assist the business analysts with user acceptance testing. Document ETL design and test resultsAssist in effort in developing standards/best practices in ETL design and maintenance. Assist in effort to provide support to team regarding best practices in T-SQL. Communicate programming changes to customers and other IT teams. Work with Computer Operation in scheduling batch processes. Provide On-call production support for data load jobs.Other job duties as assigned. Other Job FunctionsStrong desire to stay current with technology particularly in the Microsoft suite of tools. Desire to learn the business functions associated with data to improve ability to troubleshoot. Excellent Communication skills both written and verbal. High level of organizational ability - demonstrated systematic approach in carrying out assignments. Excellent problem solving skills - a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. High level of initiative, integrity, and flexibility. Ability to multi-task effectively. Excellent customer service skills. Required Education and Experience: Exceptional skills and proven ability in the design and development of stored procedures, procedural SQL, SQL Server DTS/SSIS packages to import and transform data between databases and external data sources. 4+ years T-SQL experience. 3+ years of ETL programming. 2+ years of experience developing and optimizing DTS processes using T-SQL. SSIS expertise a definite plusStrong documentation skills. Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving abilities to research and resolve critical issues. Team player with ability to work productively with internal and external clients and to translate requirements into solutions. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written. Required Experience:Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent. Experience in healthcare or electronic data interchange industries. Data warehousing/data modeling experience. 1+ years of Report writing skills using Reporting Services or Crystal Reports.
