Finance/Accounting Assistant

 

The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF), a national non-profit foundation established in 1995, is seeking a Finance/Accounting Assistant for its national headquarters in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA.  More information on UMDF can be found at www.umdf.org .

 

The Finance/Accounting Assistant must possess attention to detail and solid communication abilities.  Strong technology skills are critical in Excel and experience in QuickBooks software is preferred.

Experience Requirements:

 

Basic accounting knowledge/bookkeeping skills

Data entry

Familiarity with financial concepts, practices and procedures

Knowledge and understanding of financial statements

Proficient in various computer software applications, including:      

MS Excel

MS Word

MS PowerPoint

Access (or similar DB software)

QuickBooks software

Web based applications

 

Job Description Requirements:

 

Ability to review and understand financial processes (timing of closing books, monthly cut-off’s, reporting consistency, etc.)

Accounts payable/receivables and experience with general ledger postings

Ability and willingness to travel, estimated to be 20-25%

Demonstrable track record of success in using technology to increase efficiency

Demonstrably strong analytical skills

Person must be self-initiating (once given basic direction can drive to finish the task)

Person must be able to multi-task in a deadline driven environment.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree.
